Dell 8600 "BATT1" on Motherboard

    Hello,

    Does anyone know what the component labeled BATT1 (assume it is a battery) is used for on the motherboard for the 8600? It's the one soldered into the motherboard.

    The obvious answer is for the CMOS settings, but I don't believe that's the case because there is another battery that isn't soldered in that the service manual states is for the CMOS.

    BATT1 seems like a backup battery for the computer passwords or service tag or ??

    Thoughts?
