Dell Inspiron 4150 with older model Dell docking station?

    Hello all,

    I am trying to dock my Dell Inspiron 4150 on an older Dell Latitude
    C/Port II docking station, in a feeble attempt to save myself money.
    The computer (miraculously) fits the docking station perfectly, but
    when I power up, I get a message that the docking station attached is
    not the correct one for this computer.

    Is it really necessary to get the correct type of docking station? Or
    is this just a Dell sales ploy? And if it is just a sales ploy, is
    there any way to hack it to make it work? Thanks for any help you can
    provide.
