My wife just got a Dell Inspiron 5160 with Windows XP Home SP2 on it.

The thing is, when windows sends it to sleep OR I press the Fn key and the
Esc key (Which has the blue letters 'standby' on it), or I choose standby
from the windows menu - it goes to sleep just fine, but I can't make it wake
up by pressing the power button. Holding the power button down for a couple
of seconds fails as well. Holding the power button down for like 5 seconds
    shuts the computer off!!!

Any ideas what we're doing wrong here???

Also tried pressing keys, moving and clicking the mouse, and pressing the Fn
key plus the LCD/CRT function key and no go....

It does have a keyboard and mouse plugged in via the USB port - should we
just try it with no peripherals???
