The Dell Optiplex GX620 uses a proprietary motherboard form factor, which means finding a direct replacement board that fits within the same case and works with the existing components can be challenging. Here are a few options and considerations:

    1. Upgrade Options within Dell:
    • Dell Optiplex GX620 Replacement: If you're looking for an upgrade, you might consider getting a more recent Optiplex model that offers better performance and is compatible with more modern components. Models like the Optiplex 780 or 990 offer significant performance improvements and might be available within your budget on the used market.
    2. Aftermarket Motherboards:
    • New Case Required: To use a standard ATX or microATX motherboard, you would need to replace the case as well. This will allow you to select a more recent motherboard with better performance options. Some budget-friendly options include motherboards with Intel or AMD processors, such as:
      • ASUS Prime B560M-A or MSI B560-A PRO for Intel CPUs.
      • MSI B450-A PRO MAX or ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING for AMD CPUs.
These motherboards are reasonably priced and will support modern CPUs, RAM, and other components. You'd also need to factor in the cost of a new case and potentially a new power supply.
    3. Alternative Upgrades:
    • CPU Upgrade: If you’re set on keeping the GX620, upgrading the CPU can be somewhat limited. The GX620 supports Intel Pentium D and early Core 2 Duo processors. You might be able to upgrade to the highest supported CPU, like the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. However, this won't provide a massive performance boost compared to more recent hardware.
    4. Online Marketplaces:
    • Used Parts: Check online marketplaces like eBay or local classifieds for used motherboards and complete systems. You might find a good deal on a more recent system or a compatible motherboard for a reasonable price.
    Summary:
For around $100, your best bet is likely to either upgrade to a more recent Optiplex model or purchase a new case with a standard motherboard. The latter option gives you more flexibility and future-proofing for upgrades.

If you decide to go with a new case and motherboard, make sure to choose components compatible with your existing hardware or plan for additional upgrades such as a new CPU, RAM, and power supply.
