    Hi,

The other day I reported losing a 1TB LaCie drive. I just tried a demo
copy of Data Rescue and it seem to be able to see all of the files. I'd
need to purchase the product to actually recover/repair the drive (it's
    a partioning error I'm told).

Any opinions from the sages here as to which utility is the best. If I
am going to have to buy the software, I'd like the one which is going to
    serve me the best.

They do different things; I own a license for each of them. In the
situation you describe I would go with Data Rescue.

I've had good results with FileSalvage from SubRosaSoft.
