Do you get spinning pizza in Os9?

My partner's wirelessly networked TiBook 667/Os 9.2.2 sometimes behaves
strangely as it is booting up: as the system loads, the spinning
beachball morphs into the multicoloured spinning pizza which I thought
was exclusive to Os X. Then, when she can access the desktop, the
trackpad malfunctions and wherever she tries to put the cursor, it
boomerangs back to where it started from. A reboot usually gives her
    back a B & W beachball and a correctly functioning trackpad.

Any idea what's going on here? Her system is pretty basic but we did
activate USB Printer Sharing (to enable her to share an HP printer
wired to my ethernet-wired 7500/Os 9.1 and maybe her problems coincided
    with that. TIA.
