  2. Excuse my ignorance, but why can't you login as administrator the normal
    way?

  3. Yore don't necessarily need to boot into safe mode just to log in as
Administrator. You can just log off then log in as Administrator.
Unfortunately, Windows hides the Administrator account on the Windows
Welcome screen unless you have used the TweakUI powertoy to turn it on.
Without using the powertoy, the easiest way to force Windows to allow you
to log in as Administrator is to turn off using the Welcome screen.

Go to { Start / Control Panel | User Accounts | (you may have to click
User Accounts again) | Change the way users log on or off | [ ] Use the
Welcome Screen } (The empty square brackets mean to uncheck the option.)

Then you will be able to type in any user name you want at the log in
prompt. Of course only existing user names will work.

Do a normal boot, if you see the welcome screen use the on-screen keyboard
to press Ctrl+Alt+Del two times. This should bring up the default windows
logon prompt and you should be able to login as administrator.

    hi tobias
that's the problem with tablet pc ,
    when i click ctrl+alt+del i get a message saying - don't use that sequence ,
instead use the security key . (that's the problem on tablet pc ) so i can't
    get to the logon prompt.
now i can't change the logon screen because i don't have access into the
computer (the user that had the password lost it - that's way i need to
enter as administrator - it's the only user that i know it's password..)

because in the welcome screen , you don't see the administrator account ,
and when you press ctrl+alt+del twice on tablet pc you get an error
message...saying to use a security key or something...

It's telling you not to use ctl-alt-del but to press the security key... so press the security key. the tablet should have a physical button called the security key button. on my toshiba tablet it has a picture of a key on it.

  9. Aviel,
your tablet pc should provide a security button.

Anyway, if you don't get in with any of the mentioned ways you could try
Locksmith [1] from Winternals' ERD Commander 2002/2003. You can use this
tool as a bootable cd and reset the passwords of any user account.

    well ...solved that..
on the furjitsu stylistic i can get into safe mode by clicking the Fn key
while windows xp's loader screen is running...
    that solved all the problems..

    thanks everybody..
