Is there any way to freeze the position of a zoomed screen image, as
produced by using one or more "Cmd Option +" commands. while
    simultaneously moving the pointer?

[I'd like to move the pointer in order to click a button that is showing
somewhere on the zoomed screen, without shifting the position of the
zoomed image. Lacking this, it can be impossible to view slide shows in
a zoomed browser display without having to do multiple clicks and
    repositionings for each successive slide.]

Go to System Preferences and then select Universal Access and then select
Zoom and then select Options. You will then be given a checklist of zoom
options. Within those options one can select for "When zoomed in, the screen
image moves" the option "Only when the pointer reaches an edge".
