GA-7VAXP Ultra, using IDE3? Advice needed.

    Hi, I need some expert advice on the following, i have a GA-7VAXP Ultra, i'm using IDE1 for 2 HDD's and IDE2 for a dvd rom and a dvd rw, i have a spare HDD kicking about which i would like to use for some additional storage. I plugged the HDD into the IDE3 port but it is not being detected, i went into the bios and i can only see IDE1&2, now i seem to recall that IDE3&4 could be tied up with the 'promise' raid function on this board? What i need to know is, is it possible to use IDE3 'normally'? if so i would appreciate some advice on how to set it up, thanks for taking the time to read this, cheers.
