GA-8IE533 AC97 Problem when sound is disabled in bios

  1. Hello,

I just got a new video card (nVidia FX5600) and rebuilt the OS on my
system then installed MS Flight Simulator 2004.

The program shuts down or crashes in a very predictable manner. I had a
sound blaster sound card in and had the onboard AC97 turned off in the
bios. After ripping the sound card out and then enabling the AC97 sound
in the bios the problem seems to go away. However running with the AC97
disabled even when the sound blaster is not installed it does crash.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a way to disable the AC97 in a different way or leave it
enabled and use my sound blaster?

    Thanks in advance.

    Randy
