It is neccessary to do this process from time to time.[/QUOTE] I just turn off Chrome's automatic updater. It's a launchd in /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.google.keystone.daemon.plist. Use LaunchControl, Lingon, or edit it by hand and unload it using the Terminal. Then you'll have to update Google Chrome by hand by downloading it manually.
