I have been getting this message intermittantly lately. I eventually did a
ghost restore and the computer started working again, but during the an
overnight disk check + free space too, I got an unexpected error. When I
tried to boot, the hal.dll error was back. I just left the computer off for
the day, and when I booted again when I got home from work, everything was
fine again; and I hadn't done anything to fix the hal.dll error. What might
be causing the problem. I have 2 SATA disks on raid with stripping. These
are also the boot drive (letter e:). It almost seems like heat is degrading
the connection or something over time. I got more than enough cooling fans
(4 of them). Thanks for a recommendations as to what to do. The google
groups has a flood of stuff about this and it is hard to tell what applies
    in my situation.
