I turn on power, the drives and fans spin up, but the video signal never comes on and the PC doesn't beep or boot. I've tried swapping out RAM, power supply, video card, even disconnecting my PCI cards and hard drives. No change. To turn the PC off, I have to hold the power button for 4 seconds. This problem used to (generally) happen the first time I would turn it on for the day; turning it off (by pressing the power button for 4 seconds) and trying again always got a boot-up. Now it doesn't. Any ideas what happened and what (if anything) I can do? Do I have a dead mb? Thanks! --Ex-FIDOs do it in the trenches--
processor power supply dead.. open up the pc case and look at the caps and make sure they are clean. Turn the pc on and see what the error is (I would guess it reports a bad processor) if you touch the heatsink then it's probabyl cool to the touch (start at the top and work towards the base).. make sure that you ground yourself to the case (grab it) before you touch anything inside .. but if the heatsink is cool/cold/roomtemp then keep moving down and see if it's warm/hot.. if it's cold then the power regulator for the processor is shot..
