First, happy holidays to all. :)

    I need help/advice.

Running XP Pro SP1 with this mobo. Everything works beautifully...

    .... Except:

This board has 4 SATA ports and a 3rd IDE port. Its Southbridge is a
    VIA VT8237, and is has a built-in Promise (PDC20378) SATA/RAID
controller. There's also a VIA VT6306 chip present, but I have no idea
what it's doing there, because there's no mention of it in the
    documentation. It's all 8237-this, 8237-that.

    Full mobo specs:

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=474

    VIA 8237 Southbridge specs

So as I understand it, the Promise controler 2x SATA, and the VIA
controls 2x SATA + the 3rd IDE port.

So far, I've only been able to activate the 2 VIA SATA ports. The 3rd
IDE port and the Promise SATA ports do not work (naturally everything
    is activated in the BIOS).

Windows detects the Promise controller as "Promise 376/378 RAID
controller", but device cannot start (error code 10). And the
ATAPI/IDE Host controller gives the same error.

See "DeviceList.txt" below for device details and "Events.txt" below
    for error details.

    So might the problem be?

    Any help appreciated.

I have this same problem with an 865PE Neo2 FIS2R board and the latest
drivers from MSI do nothing for me. It still gives me the nasty
    exclaimation point...

    Hi

My KT6 Delta LSR came with a special driver disk for the SATA. Do you
have them installed? ( I don't have the third ATA 133 port) I am not
using SATA drives , so I don't know if they work on mine.

    Gollum:

I was hoping your solution would work, but alas...

Now both SATA controller are enabled, but the P-IDE controller remains
    with a yellow "!". (shit)

This is what event viewer says:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    viapdsk

I already emailed Promise, VIA and MSI, but no replies yet.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.
