HELP with IBM 770 specfically ULTRABAY!

I have an IBM 770, but am having trouble with it. It keeps freezing, I
can't open, say, Word files from a floppy, I have to go into Word, and
open them from there. I try to install a program, and it goes through
the "preparation for installation" bar, but doesn't go to the
Installation Wizard. Also, the UltraBay drive function doesn't work/is
disabled and I am wondering how to fix/reset this (eg, pull the little
switch, the ultrabay thing doesn't show up telling me the drive can
safely be removed, etc..) (BTW-It runs on Win 98)

Thanks for all or any help recieved!!
