I have 2 HD's on my KT7A raid (v1.3). Both are ntfs and on IDE1 as master and slave (cs), and work perfectly. I have tried transferring them to the highpoint IDE but it will only get as far as the highpoint bios then reboot. I have tried different combinations of using cable select and manual selection of master and slave, and even disconnecting the slave altogether, but it will not boot into windows? I do not want to create a raid, only free up an IDE channel. Any ideas anyone.

Can you get to the point where you select the "Boot Drive" ?

Stretch,

The pointer to the system drive(s) is held in a hidden file, exactly how it works I am not sure, and the BIOS boot device also has a bearing on this. You maybe able to get a better tech answer in one of the Windows 2000 specific newsgroups within this news server. I also am assuming you have the HPT370 raid drivers installed.

Example of my 'boot.ini'

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

Hope this helps.

Yes, I can get into the highpoint bios, but after that it just keeps rebooting? "RonK" wrote:

Try leaving the system drive on the IDE and connect the other drive to the Raid controller.
