How come some games take performance hits witjh AA and some none at all.

  1. I have an XP1600 at 1500mhz with a 960 pro.
When playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2003, 4x anti-aliasing doesnt do
anything at all to my frame rate. Now Splinter Cell on the other hand cuts
my frame rate by about 25-30 fps.

I play on 800X640 because I have a small monitor, and always use 16x
    anisotropic filtering.

Other than the obvious differences between the game engines, what about
them makes my 9600 pro handles FSAA on them different.

Also is there a utility thats lets you change these settings quicker,
rather than having to through the graphics properties_>advanced_>direct 3d.

    Thanks for any help.
