HP Workstation XW8000 Boot From CD Failure

    This is more of an observation about the xw8000 than a question that I
    wanted to pass along.

    I had to wipe the system and reinstall Windows XP. It would not boot
    from either the HP Recovery CD or the Windows XP Installation CD using
    the DVD drive that is installed. On HP.com, there is a fix for it
    consisting of a BIOS upgrade. I tried flashing as it instructed, but
    to no success.

    I noticed the DVD ROM drive was set to Cable Select (CS) and was on the
    Secondary IDE (SIDE) controller. It was set to this from the factory.
    After switching the drive to the Primary IDE (PIDE) controller and
    setting the jumper to Master (MA), it would boot from the Recovery and
    the Windows XP installation CDs.
