This is more of an observation about the xw8000 than a question that I\nwanted to pass along.\n\nI had to wipe the system and reinstall Windows XP. It would not boot\nfrom either the HP Recovery CD or the Windows XP Installation CD using\nthe DVD drive that is installed. On HP.com, there is a fix for it\nconsisting of a BIOS upgrade. I tried flashing as it instructed, but\nto no success.\n\nI noticed the DVD ROM drive was set to Cable Select (CS) and was on the\nSecondary IDE (SIDE) controller. It was set to this from the factory.\nAfter switching the drive to the Primary IDE (PIDE) controller and\nsetting the jumper to Master (MA), it would boot from the Recovery and\nthe Windows XP installation CDs.\n\nI hope this helps.
