IBM T42 - Access Connections - WLAN cannot be connected after standby mode

Discussion in 'IBM Thinkpad' started by Karl Scheibelhofer, Oct 27, 2004.

  1. i have a T42 (2373CUG) running Windows XP Professional. after
installing all the latest service packs (SP2) and patches, IBM Access
Connections (version 3.30) cannot connect to a WLAN any more if the
user is not in the Administrators group. Access Conncetions tells me
that it cannot connect to the WLAN because the driver of the WLAN
module (Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI) is too old. it tells
that it requires 1.2.0.56 or newer, but i have installed driver
version 1.2.3.14 (the latest from IBM web site). so, this error
message is simply wrong. if i add the user to the Administrators group
everything works just fine, but this is not a reasonable solution to
    the problem.
by the way: the WLAN connction is not "configured by windows", windows
firewall is disabled, Access Connections is configured to allow all
users to change the profile, i tried to uninstall/install Access
Connections and the WLAN adapter, i tried to disable the configuration
free wireless connections service of Windows.

i hope anyone can come up with a solution for this problem.
