IBM xServer 240 boot-order question

Discussion in 'IBM' started by Florian Hirschberg, Aug 6, 2005.

  1. Hello!

I've bought a used IBM xServer 240 with IBM ServeRAID 4LX controller.
Actually my 2 9.1GB SCSI drives are in RAID 0 mode. I've installed SuSE
Linux 9.3 on the RAID Drive and everything works fine. But now, after
installing a 160GB IDE Drive as IDE Slave the Server won't boot anymore.
If I detach the IDE Drive and reboot, the Server boots. It looks like
the server tries to boot from IDE first if a drive is installed. How can
I change this? I've tried to change some BIOS options, but nothing
works. Has anyone a hint for me to get the system working WITH the IDE
    drive?
