My 15 month old son decided he likes to push buttons, he repeatedly pushed the on-off button on my rig and now the network says I have a cable unplugged and when my computer starts up from standby I have no video (reboot fixes this).

I did all the troubleshooting I could, cables, drivers, turn lan off/on in bios, etc... and still no fixes. I stuck a Linksys ethernet card in and got it working but I think the board is damaged and I need to RMA it.

Do you think a Win XP Pro reinstall might fix it or do you think it is hardware related?

Thanks.

Have you tried resetting the cmos (bios)? Be sure and unplug system from wall when you reset too.

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately it did not work.

Hardware problem is the likeliest explanation, but OTOH you have little to lose by reinstalling it.

BTW, it won't help your motherboard, but I'd suggest you connect your son to the mains. Might cure him of his button pushing habit... ;-)
