I have the newest AC97 drivers from realtek. Set to 6ch(5.1) in Sound Manager. Speakers are plugged into the correct ports. I have even set the speakers to 5.1 under Control Panel->Advanced Speaker Settings. Also under Volume Control the Rear/Center/Sub sliders are "grayed out".

Whenever I try to test my Center/Sub & RL/RR speakers I get nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

OK, update. I found out that it is not that there is no sound, it is just really really quiet. When I do the test, it can be heard VERY faintly playing the tada.wav

Any help would be appreciated!

do your external speakers have any kind of volume control on them?

Nope no volume contols. Just plain speakers. I have tried switching the "loud" speakers with the "quiet" ones only to get the same result!

My sliders in my Volume Control are still grayed out. I believe this is somehow related. Is there any1 else with this board using the 4 or 6 speaker setup getting the same gray out?

Please let me know.

Thanks.

almost sounds like the drivers did not install correctly or something... I don't use the onboard sound so I can't offer first hand experience.

Well, I spoke with Tech Support & they said to re-install Windows! lol After re-installing onto a separate HD, I have the exact same problem.

I believe that these outs are not pre-amplified. As soon as I plug in amplified speakers & crank the volume up it works. I will confront Tech Support with this today.

What kind of speakers were you using and how much power do they require?

Anyone see the same troubles with the IS7 or IS7G? Thinking about buying one. Hope they can fix it with drivers or bios updates!

Robert

I'm running an IS7-G using the onboard sound and have not has any problems with it at all. I do not use the MIC input (just because I have no reason to) and have no issues with the sound. I use the system for general use and gaming.
