ICU.exe for tp 380xd/how to set BIOS syettings?

Discussion in 'IBM Thinkpad' started by heiko recktenwald, Oct 1, 2013.

  1. Hi, dear all, I have an old TP 380xd, very good audio etc, a nice box,
allthough the battery is dead and makes some noise, into which I had put
a new 30 GB drive and more memory some time ago so it became a really
usable new machine like any other 266 MHz Pentium.

I installed Win 98 and several versions of FreeBSD. The last one was 6.3
that supported cardbus but only on one of two slots. So stupid as I was,
it is a known bug in the FreeBSD cardbus driver, I started to play with
IRQs in Windows with the result, that I dont have audio anymore and the
8 bit PCMCIA cards dont work anymore.

I have the theory that when playing with IRQs in Windows 98 I accidently
inplicitely did disable some "I am a PNP bios" message in the late 90s
BIOS of that machine that I have to reenable now. Hopefully with that
ICU.exe. There is not much that I can do in the BIOS settings of that TP
380xd. Or do you have any other idea?

    Thanks, H.
