Install older versiion of WIN XP over newwer one

Discussion in 'Dell' started by Douglas C. Neidermeyer, Sep 6, 2006.

  1. My Inspiron 1100 came with WIN XP Home and a reinstall CD. Later I upgraded
    to Pro.

Now I want to go back and reinstall XP Home from the Dell system reinstall
CD. But I get an error message saying I can't do that because the XP version
on my computer is newer than the one on the CD.

How can I over ride that?

Set the BIOS to boot to the CD drive. Place the XP CD in the drive and
reboot the machine. Follow the on screen prompt to install XP after
deleting the current partition and recreating it.
