Install SATA or IDE Hard Drive into IBM xSeries 330

  1. Hello,
I've recently acquired an IBM xSeries 330 1U server equipped with the
hotswap SCSI backplane. Instead of SCSI, I would like to install SATA or
PATA IDE Hard Drives because of their greater capacity and availability.
The catch is that the 330 doesn't have any 4-pin molex power conectors,
as the SCSI backplane is powered from the motherboard.

Looking through the documents on IBM's support site, I found a reference
to a part# 06P6238 "Cable, hard disk drive 4-pin power." Unfortunately,
I cannot find a description of what this part does. Is it a cable that
attaches to the SCSI power output on the motherboard and provides a
4-pin molex for IDE hard drives?

If not, does anyone have any suggestions?
