iPod dilemma concerning a Mac G4 and Pc with XP, both with iTunes

I have an iPod Classic 30gb, an Apple G4 running OSX (4.11) and a PC
running XP home. Both desktops have iTunes. I got the iPod for my
birthsday and have since loaded lots of songs and podcast on it using
the iTunes on the Windows XP PC. A mistake as it turns out, because I
now want to edit down 6/7 camcorder cassettes in Mac iMovie on the G4
so that excerpts can be converted to be loaded onto the iPod. However,
I now realise that as soon as I connect the iPod top the G4, the Mac
will ask whether I want to 'restore the software', and in the process
will wipe out all the songs etc on the iPod. But I want to keep them
AS WELL as load video. I would rather use the G4 and iMovie for the
video clips as I think the quality is better than the equivalent XP
Moviemaker software. So, people, what do I do? Is there any way I can
download the iPod music and podcasts onto the Mac? PP
