Ronald,
Some on this group have reported problems with the onboard sound when using the microphone input. You might want to have a look at previous posts regarding that issue. Of course, if you are planning on using a sound card then it will not be a potential issue for you.
That having been said, I just built an IS7 system a couple of weeks ago for a relative while on vacation and everything went very smooth. Prior to the build I did go to Abit's site and downloaded all the latest drivers and also BIOS 13. After the system posted, I flashed the bios, powered off, cleared the CMOS, powered on, made the BIOS selections I wanted and loaded XP onto a Western Digital Raptor SATA drive. All went very smooth and although expecting the microphone to cause problems with the sound, I'm happy to report, I didn't experience the audio problem others have reported. Got lucky I guess.
The system is not overclocked.
2.4 Gig 800 MHz FSB
2 X 256 MB Kingston 3-3-3 in dual channel mode
Vision Tek Gforce 3 Ti 500
Antec Sonata case
The only problem I did have and didn't resolve was trying to get Ghost 2003 to make a copy of the SATA drive onto a spare IDE hard drive. Never got that to work. I don't think it is an IS7 related issue. More than likely it is an issue with Ghost and the 865 chipset but that is only speculation on my part. However, I was on vacation at the time just didn't have a lot of time to resolve the issue. Guess I'll tackle that one again when I build an IS7 system for myself in a few weeks.
Good Luck,
John
