I just got this board (Revision 1.1) and i was wondering about the Onboard Lan, i know it's 10/100 but is it better to use that or a PCI network adapter (i using a 3Com PCI card right now)? Is the Onboard 3Com, how can i find out for sure? Will XP Pro SP1a install it's own drivers for it or will i need to have the driver disc ready before the internet will be accessible?

Also is the SATA bootable on this board? the manual isn't too clear.

there is no reason that I am aware of to not use the onboard LAN and it is every bit as capable as an add-in card. if you already possess the board, try enabling the onboard LAN and see what kind of device shows up. drivers are on the CD that came with the board.

the SATA ports are bootable as far as I know as they will act as IDE 3 & 4 in some configurations that have the onboard PATA IDE controllers active as well as the SATA controller.

Thanks for replying, i just switched to the onboard lan and there was at least no drop in performance but it's not a 3Com it's a Realtek, oh well! Thanks for the info.

From my initial use of this board i find it to be fast and really
stable.
