Before I re-installed OS this morning (which was done out of
necessity), I have been able to update the driver for my wrirless
card w/o problem. (this was about a week or more ago). The reason of
the update was that it keeps the computer connected to my encrypted
    home wirless network stable.

Now, after I updated the driver, when I got to add/remove program and
check the evrsion is still the old one. Tech Support won't help with
this step by step. They will charge if I use the expert help.

Can someone tell me what's going on? And how to fix it? Note, I have
re-installed OS and all the configurtion is backt o manufacturer;s
defualt. The only thing I have done *sucessfully* was updating the
driver for power management and hotkeys and *unsucessfully* was
updating the driver for the wirless card.

No, it is Intel PRO (R) Wirless WiFi Link 4695 AGN. The document
number at www.ibm.com is mimigr-62875 (see the 1st link for the
installation instruction after entering the doc no is search box or go
    to http://tinyurl.com/q2dpy.

I have XP Pro Service Pak 2; My ThinkVantage Access Connections is ver
    4.42

My understaning is that the latest driver for wireless card of Intel
Pro Wireless Driver (802.11 abgn, abg, bg) is Version 11.05.0
( 7KWC50WW) . Well, under addtional information, it says that I need
Power Management Driver 1.42 or giher. Mine is 1.19 after the upgrade.
Damn tech support. Couldn't even give me the right doc to get the
latest driver. Was never asked whether I am using access connection or
not; thhat shold mean they know I am using access connections.

I am not seeing an entry for hotkeys under Add/Remove though I
    installled the driver for it.

Well, acording to the list of drivers (for all utilities) stated at
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67853,
the ppwer management version is 1.19 which I have. (Sugested on is .42
if Access connectin is used). For hotkeys, the one given to me turned
out to be 2.06 but after the installation, I stil l see tht my version
    is 1.16.

So, in summary, I have the latest version of Thinakvantage Access
    Connection (4.42) which requires
    (1) power management version of 1.42 - I have 1.19; the one listed at
the link for all utilities is 1.1.9
    (2) hokeys version of 2.0? - I have 1.16 though I have the file for
2.06 and installed it; the one listed at the link for all utilities is
    1.1.2.06
    (3) wirless card version of 11.05 - I have 11.01; the one listed at
the link for all utilities is 11.1.

Note: the doc no for all driver utitlies wasa given by tehch supoort.

If anyone has any info, please share. I am wonderign whether the te
reason that the evrsion I have for hotkeys and wireless card driver
are not installed becaus the power manager version is not 1.42 as
required by the version of Access Connection driver that I have.

BTW, my internet connection is stable.

I have a Lenovo 3000 N200, it is quite a bit different from your machine, so
can't provide help on your specifics.

    First, does your wireless work?

You can try uninstalling the current wireless driver from Device
Manager, reboot, and install the new driver.

    BTW, see my first question.
