Hello!

I've tried hooking up a regular hard drive with the SATA converter supplied with the motherboard. It just is not recognized. Nothing for the SATA shows up on the boot up screen when it lists the RAID drives. The other drives I have hooked up the the IDE RAID work fine.

Have I missed something? Was I supposed to install a driver? The device manager looks ok, but I can't find anything specifically for SATA. Would that be under the RAID controller?

And yes, I do have bot power plugs plugged in.

Thanks for any help.

Set the hard drive to Master

Thanks! I had mine set to auto. The drive is now recognized on the boot up screen, but now windows doesn't boot. When I disconnect it Windows loads fine. Go figure?!

This may or may not help but for the longest time I though my SATA was messed up too (I have the AT7 Max2). I even bought a new cable, power connector and eventually a different brand of adapter (HighPoint RocketHead 100). When I opened the the new adapters box and looked at the instructions I realized I'd been hooking up the drive power connections incorrectly. Make sure you have one side of the power connector plugged into the adapter and the other end plugged into the drives power socket... then of course connect the other to your power source. Man, I coulda kicked myself in the arse! But all is well now... so no big whoop.

No...I have it hooked up correctly. The bios sees it..just windows won't boot with it. Thanks though because I need to hear anything I can possibly be doing wrong.
