I flashed my BIOS to the DN revision but the HPT BIOS remained at 2.32. I did not realize this when I first built the system and I used the Windows drivers at revision 2.34 from this link:

http://fae.abit.com.tw/eng/download/driver/model/kd7-raid.php?key=latest

ABIT's website recommends using the same revision HPT 372 RAID Driver as the BIOS revision.

Could anyone please advise me on how to flash the BIOS to include the HPT driver with the 2.34 BIOS?

Thanks,

Bob

You have to modify the main BIOS using CBROM to replace the 2.32 Highpoint BIOS with 2.34.

I can e-mail you DN that already has 2.34 if you like.

Thanks Doug, I received the BIOS update and the system works fine. I am using the HPT controller in ATA mode only at this time. I changed my boot drive from the Via controller to the HPT controller and I noticed that it was considerably slower when unraring archives split over many files with Winrar 3.10. I was hoping that the HPT BIOS change would help but I have found no difference, it is still slow. For refernce, I have an XP2400 with 512 MB of RAM and a Maxtor 80 GB hard drive (ATA133 with 8MB of RAM). I have run out of things to try at this point. Do you (or anyone in the group) have any recommendations?

Thanks,

Bob

In the BIOS 'Disable' the "CPU Disconnect Function" and see if that helps.

This option was added with the DN BIOS, and I found after flashing from CY to DN that files copied very slow with this option enabled. With it disabled all was fine.

I posted about this in this group right after DN was released but no one else seemed to be seeing the slow file transfers from it. It could very well be what is affecting Winrar also.

Doug,

I saw your post and tried that change in the BIOS but I did not notice any difference.

Thanks,

Bob
