I've gotten tired of the memory stability probs with the KG7 and now have a new AGP 8x video card. I want to swap out all my other components to this new board without any other expenses or major configuration problems. Which of these two boards is the better choice? (KD7-G or AT7-MAX2)

I will eventually build a new box and hand this one down to my wife & daughter so I don't need a major high-end mobo, just something more stable and with AGP 8x. Thanks

Abit KG7 (no raid) mobo
Win Xp Pro SP1
AMD 2.0+ T-Bird cpu
Thermaltake Volcano 6+ cooler
4x 256mb Registered Crucial PC2100
2x 60GB Western Digital ATA/100 HDD 7200rpm
Teac FDD
USR 10/100 NIC 3c905b
Sony 52x CDR
BFG FX5900 128mb video
420W AMD approved PS

Well some people have problems with this board but i havnt seen alot with mine, my setup is close to what you have amd 2400 cpu-ax-7 cooler and a 8x video card9(gf4 4200) and 2 seagate 80gig drives. but i am not using any registered memry but use cas 2 corsair memory with turbo settings. perhaps its the use of all 4 memory slots. But anyway, why not consider a nforce 2 ultra board? Me i am going to wait, then upgrade to one of the new amd 64 chips, one that has the memory controller on chip. One other thing about the memory is that i set the voltage manually, its set at 2.58 which shows 2.50v in the via hardware monitor, if i set it to auto the the memory voltage goes up to 2.58-2.60 in the via monitor.

I also have a KG7-RAID and I've also have had problems.

If I were you, I'd try a different brand as ABIT doesn't support their boards very long after new boards come out. Not to mention all the problems ABIT boards seem to have. I know my next board will not be an ABIT.
