When my PC boots, it says something like "corrupt CMOS, loading defaults", so I then go to BIOS screen and "load failsafe defaults". When I come back out and save my settings, the screen goes black and the PC hangs until it is physically switched off and rebooted. Have swapped the jumper around to clear CMOS - maybe needs more time - any other ideas ?

If anyone is wondering what happened after my other thread, I bought an ultra-cheap MX220 video card and now AGP seems to work, so it looks like the motherboard was OK all along.

Cheers,

Blewyn

did this board setup ever work or is this a new setup? usually, clearing the CMOS takes effect in a very short few seconds... sometimes I'll let it stay jumpered in the clearing position (pins 2 & 3) for 30 seconds or so and be sure to have all power removed while clearing or it doesn't work. either unplug the AC or switch it off at the source.

Thanks for your reply, Tom. The failsafe defaults and optimised defaults have both worked on this particular board in the past, though obviously not with my new video card. Have left the CMOS jumper in the clearing position and gone to work, so with any luck it'll e fully cleared by the time I get home !

Cheers,

Blewyn
