I have had a computer set up to dual boot for some while but I have had problems after recently upgdrading the bios to 7ds and 7dm. (I think)

When the High point RAID controller is switched off then everything fires up fine, I can select WinMe or XP fine. However when I utilise RAID (with or without discs attached) WinMe crashes every time, XP makes no difference, yes I have used the correct drivers to match the current Raid bios (2.34)

Unfortunately as I do not use WinMe very often I do not know whether the WinMe failure is down to the bios update or not.

Any suggestions apart from losing WinMe?

TIA

Further to this topic:

Flashed bios with DM and DS

DM has different bios Raid version than DS
One functions with XP (V.2.34) - DM not with WinMe
One functions with WinMe (V.2.0.1024.) - DS not with XP (I still have the
2.34 XP drivers)
NEITHER work together....... what the???

I suppose if I changed the drivers for the XP to a version compatible with Bios DS (V.2.0.1024.) as currently flashed then XP would work ---- here's the rub no driver version exists (on Abit or Highpoint website) for Bios version (V.2.0.1024.) so which XP driver do I use praytell???

Any one care to comment?

HMmmmm ... most interesting ...

The thot occured ...
use a Bios Savior to "accomodate" both ME & XP BIOS
apparent differing bios 'rev' requirements ...
maybe.
The OS driver 'revs' would load along with the OS ... no?

HMMmmm too ...
have a BS atop another BS ... 3 alt bios eeproms to choose from ... given the vert space is avail ... Might aughta 'work' ... maybe.

Qed.

I think I'll just kick WinMe into touch and stick to XP, it seems the easiest option....

or I could just keep disabled the highpoint in bios and boot to WinMe but it's a real pita..

I dual boot win98se and win XP on my kg7r by having two full installs on seperate disks, I disconnected the power on one disk when installing the other. Windows therefore is not aware of each other. Lilo sorts it all out as far as booting into any OS which means I have a flavour of linux as well.

if this is a bios problem, this may not help, but may be worth trying. I am using DM bios with my machine. Not using raid but using as IDE3 for win 98se hard disc.
