My KG-7 Raid was running fine until 2 days ago the system boots up fine but when it tries to load up my OS Windows XP PRO SP 1 it starts to reboot. I have change my Slew rate to 6 and 7 still the same problem, I have disconnected everthing and started the system with just the video card and hard drive still the same problem. Is ther something else I can try. Thanx

Have you tried booting to "Last known good configuration"?

I'd try checking for ram problems...

had the same thing happen to me.. the machine running fine but it would reboot 30secs after booting Windows XP... forced a memory check in the BIOS.. turns out the second memory module had failed.. got it replaced and no problemo! :D

Could well be the RAM, I also had the same problems, I had a module that was seemed to be working but was corrupting data, had to reinstall XP but now seems OK and back to normal.

Is the HDD connected to the Raid or the Ide?
If on Ide disable the Highpoint in bios and boot up XP CD and run recovery console, do a drive check using /P then /R if problems found

If that fixes errors and you still fail to boot up correctly then you may well have to reinstall XP if the OS is damaged (repair if poss')

good luck

Try it again with only one memory module and see if it works ok. If so, you have a problem with your motherboard and you'll have to replace your memory with nine chip modules.

why would he suddenly need 9 chip modules when his board was working with the ram it had?

A 'fair' <?> ... :-)

Perhaps its a "Registered" module 'thingie' ... ???
the 'need' for 'Reg' mem modules ... as opposed to 'ECC' 9_chip modules.

The underlying 'explaination' for a general lack of
=just= "Reg" modules , or =just= "ECC" modules ,
but, that [ "Reg" + "ECC" ] appears ,
I get is ...
its an "SKU" gimmick ... avoids 2 'additional' SKUs ...

The primary mfgrs figure that its almost as cost_effective to make a module with a) ECC ... =and= b) "Reg"(~buffered) both, in one shot ...

Ergo ... the "9 chip module" thingie ...
albiet "ECC",
but, with "Reg" typically added .

But ...
do I recall that KG&_R "Reg" modules are required at/upon the 3rd or 4th module ???? . '4' filled mem slots for sure. Certainly just 2 plain vanila modules aughta work ... no?

Qed

**** it IM selling my microsoft stock!
But IM keeping my KG&_R
