Hi

I have a problem when booting my computer. The computer wont boot at all and I don't even get a single beep. The CPU fan and harddisk is running, but then it halts. Nothing happens - blank screen. I've tried to clear the CMOS, and check the RAMs, but nothing will help. It functioned well before I inserted a new graphic card and a new disk, but now it won't do anything at all, not even if I replace the new disk and gfx-card with the old ones. Anyone who has any suggestions?

Best regards
Andy

This sounds suspiciously like what happens when the cpu fan is plugged into the wrong connector and the shutdown on fan failure option is enabled in the bios.

The fan should be plugged into header #1, closest to the DIMM slots. If it is, you might try connecting the cpu fan to a different cinnector and hooking another fan to #1 -- some fans have a signature the bios can't recognize.

Depending on which bios you have, the fan shutdown option can be disabled. Trouble is, you have to be able to boot as far as the bios to reset it.

Check the KT7 FAQ at http://www.sudhian.com/showfaqs.cfm?fid=2 for some troubleshooting tips.

I've just tried your advice, but it still won't boot. The CPU fan is connected using a 4-pin connector, and I've put a regular fan on the 3-pin connector leading to connector #1. I'm searching the FAQ you provided for hints, but if anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

Assuming everything is hooked up correctly, it sounds like blown caps on the MB or a blown PS.
