I have an old KT7 mobo.(not A not RAID). I have been looking through loads of old posts but i can't seem to get a straight answer. Can i just pop in a new athlon xp processor into a KT7? Do you have to modify it? Does i have to have a specific core? BTW i'm not very literate with mobo techie talk.

The reason you can't get a straight answer is because Athlon XP covers a lot of cpu's and the answer depends on what you want. If you want sure fire, no hassle, buy a 2400+ and plug it in. Boot to 2000MHz. See link below for more details.

So if i got an athlon XP 2400+, and put it in my KT7, what settings would you put in the bios? In my bios the multiplier goes up to 14x.

...

Whatever I wanted. See Multiplier Cross ref. in the link provided.

In my bios the multiplier goes up to 14x.

Mine goes up to 24x (10.5 remapped).

Go to the link provided and do some reading.

At the moment the multiplier with my non-a non-raid kt7 with a 750mhz t-bird athlon goes up to 14x. If i put in a 2400+ will i magically be able to get 20x100?

Well, it's not magic, but yes, a 2400+ plugged into a KT7 will default to 2000MHz (20x100). You can adjust up to 24x or down to 15x from there. See Multiuplier Cross Ref. in link below.
