I'm experiencing slow file copying and crackling sound as more fully described in the ABIT FAQ.

BIOS: A9
Chipset Drivers: VIA Hyperion 4in1 448v
USB Filter Driver: Version 1.10
RAID: No drives connected to the RAID controller. RAID disabled in BIOS.
PC Specs: Athlon 1.2, 2 x 40G WD HDD, Soundblaster Live Value 5.1, Geforce 2 GTS 64MB
OS: WinXP Pro (upgrade from W2K)
PCI Latency Patch: v020_beta21

The slow file copying seems to happen in emulated DOS mode (for instance a Norton Ghost copy in started out at 700MB/s and ended up at 500MB/s 20 minutes later).

Can anyone suggest any BIOS settings that might help? Has anyone had this problem before and been able to solve it?

Chipset Drivers: VIA Hyperion 4in1 448v

Abit as some others recommend via drivers before agp8x

4in1 4.38v

HUH? 700mb/sec that's beyond the theoritical capability of ata 133 by a factor of 5. Why are you using the via ide for a hard drive? the highpoint is far more reliable and faster. leave ata devices roms and r/ws on the via- put hard drives on the highpoint. good luck
