My Matrox G400 bit the dust this afternoon, now my KT7Raid is w/o an AGP card. This is an older board (2x-4X as I recall) , anyone using it and happy with ANY video card for basically TEXT , Internet and 'some' light games? Will be doing some 'video capture' in the near future so needs to be decently robust. Thanks again.

Hoping this one posts, having major problems with NS 7.1 and it isn't posting to this NG all the time..

So, anyone with a suggestion for a good, BRIGHT, CRISP card for some gaming, mostly TEXT and internet? Thanks.

Trying one last time to post... dang NS

The ATI Radeon cards are very good. You can get a 7500 Radeon for about $75 Canadian or a Radeon 9000 for $91 Canadian. The US prices are a lot less. I'm currently using the 9000 and it's a great video card.

Thanks RONK,
I am kinda leaning toward one of those. These last two days have been a royal 'cluster f---' as you can see (and I apologize to the group) in the double posts. I am still NOT sure ANYTHING I post gets out. NS 7.1 is NOT a really 'great' mail client and the whole NS program seems to HANG on to any OLD profiles that may have been corrupt (even after a registry scrub!)... So appreciate the reponse. Thanks again.

Having no problems with NS 7.1 here. You can edit your profile from outside the browser in Profile Manager. It will allow you to delete any old ones and create a new one.

I also recommend the ATI series. I have an 8500LE which is a nice match for my 1.2 AMD. I bought it a few months ago for $75 US. Probably a bit cheaper now.

Thanks for the reference Enkidu, I'm probably gonna get one tomorrow. The problem with 'my' NS 7.1 was its refusal to dump the Profile no matter how many times i deleted it, rebuilt it, reinstalled NS, cleared the Registry. I hosed the whole shebang and reinstalled NS and that 'old' (unposting) PROFILE was 'still' in the manager. But finally I got rid of it, been using it since '92 or so with all my NS versions. Take care.

I like the ATI cards - vid capture would need the All In Wonder version (AIW).

As to your browser/newsgreader, try the Mozilla 1.4 program. Much like Netscape but a little better user control.
