I have a problem where my KX7-333 with a XP2000+ fails to boot more than 50% of the time

The display seems to die while loading the bios. Cant hear any noise form the CD and HD after so it is not continuing to boot. What I have done so far is...

Changed the monitor
Changed the graphics card
Changed the RAM
Checked fans are turning / plugged into the right slots on the motherboard

I have no other spares to replace anything else.

I'm quickly running out of ideas. I'm left thinking its either the CPU isnt getting cooled properly or the board is just faulty but I cant understand why it doesnt happen every time .

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated

Cheers

AL

What size power supply do you have?
If you can get your hands on 350W or above, try it.

Also on the power supply theme...

You can try drastically decreasing the cpu multiplier - say to 5. The total power consumption will then decrease. If the power supply is on the edge of not working, then with decreasing the power consumption, booting should become more reliable. Also consider unplugging things that aren't being used in the test.

It might still be the PS.

Try unplugging the cd and all the HDs and see if you can boot from just a floppy. remove the all the PCI cards and all the Memory sticks except one and see what happens.

Also, for a short time you can try unplugging the case fans (not the fan on the heatsink though) Lenster
