Leopard's Finder keeps crashing

Opera or other apps will freeze for a few seconds, then I see Finder has
relaunched. Of course it doesn't remember its previous column sizings
so that has to be done again. This happens every few hours. Is this
happening to anybody else? I never remember an app freezing causing
Finder to relaunch before. I can always tell when it has relaunched
because the column resizing has gone back to its default layout.

Verifies fine. I'm going to spend some time browsing the Console as per
JR's suggestion. Thanks JR for the obvious yet often little used tip.

    Console questions

First question: The time seems to be wrong when I'm in All Messages.
My computer time is correct (Sys Prefs as it updated from Apple). But
the Console time seems to be about 2.5 hours ahead. I'll keep an eye on
it to try to find out exactly how many minutes ahead it is. Would it be
best to have only one app running at a time to try to isolate things?
I'm worried about complications: one app influencing another. Here's
from the system.log from the last few minutes. I noticed it looked like
LazyMouse had a problem but its working fine (wonderful app!). Will
Console also report delays in launching? That might generate an error
but then the app is working perfectly. I have notification set so a
Console window pops up when its updated.

I think the problem with the time was I had the columns not placed
properly and it was only showing part of the time. All looks well now
on the time front. Just now even the Console stopped responded! This
sure will be great to fix.

Been using Leopard daily since release and never saw this. Suspect
3rd-party plugins (like context menu items) or invasive enhancements
(like things that leverage Unsanity's APE) as the root cause.

What system? I've found that Leopard isn't too bad on Intel but not so
    great on PowerPC.

The application "Console" should have some logs for your crashes. Look
in LOG FILES : CrashReporter. Crash logs ending with ".crash.log" are
10.4 logs. 10.5 crash logs end with "YYYY-MM-DD-hhmmss_hostname.crash".
