presently I am running redhat 9 on my main pc, so it's not such a great concern, and on my laptop with win2000 I am using thunderbird as mail & news client, and further, as a general rule I never run attachments unless I am absolutely certain I know what it is...
 
and, it appears that I am lucky, there is a thread on this virus in alt.comp.hardware.homebuilt, some people seem to get 10 times as many of these as I do...
