I've tried placing 4 memory sticks in my Kr7a mobo. Three work fine. When I add the fourth, the XP Pro system glitches and sometimes reboots like when you have a bad memory stick. All (I have a total of 5 PC2100 DDR sticks) test OK when checked out individually or in combinations of 3 or less. Did I miss something in the manual?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I believe all the ram must be of the "registered" type if you plan to use 4 sticks - i have 4 sticks of registered ram in my KR7a and it runs OK under XP.

Jason is exactly right, if you use all 4 slots, you HAVE to use registered memory sticks. I have 4 256MB registered sticks and all work just fine. Unfortunately, I guess I didn't read my book well enough to see that this mobo does NOT support ECC. My memory sticks are all registered/ECC. Guess I'll migrate them to the next PC I build which WILL support ECC. ;-)

Cheers,

Billy

Thanks, folks. I never saw anything about the need for registered mem sticks to use the fourth slot. I guess I'll have to hold at 1.5 GB for this mobo.
