MMicrosoft just got sued by the EORO highest court for 700 million bux.
Was last night on BBC broadcast. They claim that MS windows system
is in default beause they did'nt include their Music portion of
windows as a seperate entity apart from Windows. NO comment yet from
MS but looks like the sparks are flying.

    ;
I think that you mean fined, not sued. Besides - $700
million dollars? Even if it was Euros, so what, when you
    are the size of M$.

Shrug. M$ will appeal, and hopefully get slapped down.
The sad part, or course, is that they got out of being broken
up by the Clinton DoJ, and instead got assigned a lap dog to
    "watch for furthur infractions".

Very old case, nothing new, other than the European Court
of First Instance has upheld the fine and findings. Little
    surprise there...

  3. They were not sued, they were fined, and it didn't just happen, it
happened like a year ago. What happnened today was that an appeals
    court denied their appeal.

Barry, They were sued, and there is only one higher court that can
over rule or sustain the suit.
    This is per BBC.

  6. They were fined, not sued. And yes, they have one appeal left, which
they will lose, because all of Europe is basically socialist.

    :
I expect they will lose the appeal because they are guilty
of abusing their monopoly power, which was the finding in the
US right at the end of the Clinton administration.

Unfortunately, they got the judge in that case to make a
very unfortunate statement, which cast doubt on the remedy that
    was called for.

The Dubya administration, with lots of campaign contributions
from "Sir" Bill, agreed, and installed a lapdog to watch for
future "violations". They also got the pro-business Dubya DoJ to
agree that M$ needed to keep the rights management protocols to
themselves, which is another thing the EU is looking for remedy,
or at least to get some useable documentation.

The EU investigation into the M$ abuse of monopoly powers
started soon after the US case, with the aid of a compliant DoJ,
callapsed into a steaming pile of uselessness.

    Do a Google search on:

and you'll get over 2,000,000 hits.

BTW, Microsoft was not "sued" in this particular case. They do seem to
be sued almost daily over other issues, both in this country and
abroad. If that is what you were referring to then you could come up
with a new lawsuit just about every day. :)
