hi
does anyone know how to get a mic working with the mic input on their Abit nf7-s? - it's odd but I can't get it to work using messenger.. it does work with sound recorder at least that I can hear myself but using MSN messenger the wizard just doesn't pick up anything for the mic and no one can hear me.

Should I switch to a powered mic? (if that's acceptable) or should I use another input instead of mic in?

anyone using a NF7-S with video conferencing software successfully and a microphone please send your thoughts or how you've setup your mic. (which jack it's plugged into and what model mic are you using.)

thanks, rgooding77

there is a power adapter that plugs into your sound card that may help. A lot of noise canceling mics need this so that they get enough power from the sound card (or on board) I have several from the old day where some SB card required this. It made my mic work fine when I found one in an old box of stuff. Seems like I bought mine from Andrea ( the mic people). It is unlikely that you will need the one with the in line battery. Radio Shack may also have one. They do help and only cost a few $

Hi
thanks for the tip - I've the NF7-S version of motherboard with the onboard soundstorm audio so I'm not sure that your tip applies or I could be wrong (which I'm hoping is the case) but either way I've a Plantronics headset that worked just fine on my SBLive! but only with some applications on this new Abit board..

let me know if I have to go shopping if possible.. thanks, rgooding77
