I just started a clean reinstall of XP Pro after major problems with MediaPlayer9 (don't touch!!), and the first time it did a restart to continue installation, it wouldn't go any further than the boot screen. All I get is a message 'Remove disks or other media....Press any key to restart' Thing is both cd rom drives are empty as is the floppy drive!! And it won't restart when I hit any key!! No matter what I do, I can't get any further. I've done this loads of times and never a problem till now. Board is IS7. Anyone got any ideas?

Arraknid,

Assuming you made no BIOS changes, you may want to make sure the boot order for the hard drive you want to boot from is selected correctly. Try checking here in the BIOS:

Advanced BIOS Features/Hard Disk Boot Priority .... Make sure the hard drive you want to boot from is the first item listed.

If your drive is on the SATA controller also try this:

Integrated Peripherals/OnChip IDE Device ... play with the options OnChip Serial ATA setting. The last IS7 system I built with BIOS 16 just would not boot a SATA Raptor after loading XP Home unless the setting for OnChip Serial ATA was set to Auto. I had it set to Enhanced Mode at first, but it just would not boot the Raptor till it was changed back to Auto. Note: I have noticed with BIOS 16 that changes here can affect the boot order mentioned above especially if other disk drives are on IDE1 or 2 so make sure you go back and check that again before exiting the BIOS.

Good luck,

John

what is the hard drive configuration? what controllers are the drive on? are you using the SATA controller and if so, are you booting to that controller?
