New Linux driver "ati-driver-installer-8.29.6.run"

Discussion in 'ATI' started by Tony DiMarzio, Sep 22, 2006.

  1. Wow..... finally!

This is the first Linux driver that I have gotten to work, at all, with my
X1900XTX. I have tried the previous 4 linux driver releases with nothing but
frustration (X server tries to start then the monitor goes blank and stays
that way until reboot). This one was just, 1, 2, 3, done. X starts no
problem. Even managed to modify AA and VSync settings and play the UT2K4
    demo :)

I think ATI is finally reaching acceptable Linux support. Now they have to
add a GUI Control Panel to modify all the XF86Config and xorg.conf settings
so I don't have to do this shit off the cmd line.
