New motherboard don't work with Win98???

Hi all.

Yesterday I went to buy new Asus mother board (mine is 5 years old Cusi-m)
but sales man tels me that new motherboards don't support Win98 and that it won't work. I find that hard to believe. I'm quiet hapy with my old windows, do I really new to upgrate Wins to be able to buy new PC
or will it work just fine minus few things like needing drivers for USB...
