Discussion in 'Gateway' started by michaelspadaro1, Mar 28, 2005.

  1. :( I just installed a new msi 6312 mobo into a gateway case.

new ram, new power supply, used cpu 1000mhz PIII, old cdrom, old
    floppy.

The problem is as follows, machine boots up to a blinking cursor.
I get the gateway logo screen,
bios sees everything, memory, cpu, floopy and cd rom. Nothing
    happens !

I've tried boot discs (floppies), and I've tried bootable cd's ,

nothing will boot, I can't even get into DOS with a Win98 boot disk.

It just goes from gateway screen to blinking cursor !!!!!!

What am I doing wrong ? I've cleared the CMOS, restored everything to
default values and still nothing !

    Someone please HELP !!!!!

    Mike

  2. Have you set the boot sequence in the BIOS setup? (Usually set to boot from
floppy, CD, hard drive - in that order).
