My Southbridge does run hot but not so hot that I can't touch it. I'm not overvolting the chipset voltage either. Would Arctic Silver Alumina epoxy be a safe bet for attaching a heatsink to the South Bridge?

Hi,

yes epoxy would be fine. The only thing you should be aware of is this might invalidate your warrantee should anything happen down the road. . .

My Southbridge is damn hot but so far doesn't seem to affect anything, however I will also be epoxying a suitable heatsink on once I find one. .

50/50 With ordinary AS would be a better bet, you may need to take it off for some reason!

Good point. Has anyone ever had a NF7-S southbridge fail without a heatsink on it?

AS would be no good as the HS would just fall off...!!!

Thermal Pads would be ideal, also known as thermal tape.

How would you recognise that your SB has failed whether you had a HS on it or not..?

BTW You could just use a 120mm 'quiet' type of fan and direct the airflow over it, or just leave it alone :-)

What Borolad was saying is, mix the thermal epoxy half and half with artic silver. It will adhere the heatsink but still allows for fairly easy removal. It is a common practice and if I may add, it's a good idea.
